CNN recently interviewed Audra Anderson, a West Coast Surrogacy Gestational Surrogate and Amy Kaplan, founder of WCS on the recent growth of international surrogacy. An increasing number of American women are becoming gestational surrogates for international couples who are unable to have a child without surrogacy. These couples come from all over the globe, including China, where the need for U.S.-based surrogate mothers is particularly prevalent. Amy Kaplan explains how roughly 40% of WCS’s clients are from China, with a third of these intended parents being LGBT. Audra, who lives in California, is currently pregnant and carrying a baby for a Chinese LGBT couple with whom she’s worked with during a previous surrogacy agreement.
